Sponsorships for Tibetan needy elderly people
in India and Nepal
India
Needy elderly people in India through the Central Tibetan Relief Committee (CTRC), Dharamsala, India (code=TFS)
According to Tibetan tradition, the elderly and the ill are cared for by
their own families. However there are many difficult cases in which the
families themselves live in extreme poverty or where elderly people find
themselves alone. And here we really need your help!
The Central Tibetan Relief Committee (CTRC) from the Department of Home
of the exiled Tibetan government in Dharamsala welcomes needy elderly
people within a relief program in which Sponsors are located for them. We
have worked with this organization for many years.
The sponsorship fee amounts to CHF 180 - to CHF 360.- per year
(ca. € 110.- to € 220.- or US$ 150.- to
US$ 300.-) which you can wire directly to India. The CTRC
secretariat is sending you after receipt of your payment a letter of
appreciation and a receipt.
If you would like to sponsor a needy elderly person please fill out your
name and address in the Application Form, click on the button "For an
elderly Tibetan" and enter the above mentioned code in the comments field
of the Application Form. Subsequently, please click the submit button and
we will contact you at our earliest convenience and provide you with a
life history, a photograph and information about the way of payment
transfer.
You can also contact us directly by sending an e-mail to the coordinator
of this Sponsorship Program: samra.losinger@bluewin.ch
Below we would like to introduce you one elderly who urgently needs help.

Nepal
Tibetan Women's Wefare Group, Nepal (Kode=TWWG)
Since early 1997, the Tibetan Woman's Welfare Group in Kathmandu is
taking care for a Home for Elderly in Swayambhu/Kathmandu. The home is
meant for Tibetan elderly without family and without financial
resources.
Through the years Verein TIBETFREUNDE could arrange a number of
sponsorships (presently 43) for this home, so helping to guarantee that
those people can grow old in dignity and without too much financial
problems anymore.
Coordinator: Rachel Klauser (rachel.klauser@gmail.com)
Lodrik Welfare Fund, Pokhara, Nepal (Kode=LWF)
Children and elderly Tibetans live in the Jampaling Tibetan Refugee
Settlement. The majority of the older Tibetans were freedom fighters in
Loe-Mustang, near the Nepalese/Tibetan border. In 1975, the Nepalese
government assigned a parcel of land to the refugees. Over the years
homes for over 60 families were built. The first school buildings were
built in 1981/82 and more than 240 children (between ages 10 and 12) go
to school there. A nursing home was founded for elderly Tibetans. Since
most of them have no family they live together there.
Coordinator: Beatrice Güdel (beatriceguedel@bluewin.ch)
The sponsorship fee for an elderly in Nepal amounts to between
CHF 400.- (TWWG) and CHF 420.- (LWF) (= ca. € 240.-
to € 260.- or US$ 330.- to US$ 340.-) per year. This
amount is covering food, clothing, shelter and medication.
The amount for the elderly in Nepal can be remitted to our sponsorship
